History of Flux Visual

My involvement with web began in the mid-nineties, in my parents’ basement as a teenager using Tandy computers with dialup modems and BBS. In 1998, I moved to San Francisco, using Dreamweaver to build websites for bands and DJ’s. In 1999, I spent a year in Minneapolis, learning Director and Flash at MCAD, and integrating motion and sound into my projects.

In 2000, I moved to NYC, working for <kpe>, a web agency in Union Square. I learned to hand-cod HTML and separate content from style via CSS and XML. I began working for myself in 2002 as D13 Media with my first client being HBO, building the website for their 9-11 In Memoriam documentary.

Throughout the 2000′s, I produced Flash projects, following ActionScript’s evolution from a set of simple timeline commands to a complete object-oriented programming language with Model-View-Controller and Singleton design patterns. I often worked in partnership with a number of interactive agencies in New York and Los Angeles, including Area 17, Deep Focus, Mod Lab, and 72 & Sunny.

In 2006, I began Flux Visual and my client work continues with some of the largest media and entertainment companies in the world, including MTV, AOL, and over 100 projects with Condé Nast, creating websites, web modules, and mobile applications using ActionScript, Objective-C, and HTML5.
